Chapter 19 (1/1)
I stared at him with a blank face, not knowing how to process what he said before. "W-What?" I asked in disbelief. He blinked for a moment until his eyes widened. "I-I!" he stuttered as he backed up from me and hit the wall. I noticed a red hue on his face and I giggled slightly. "W-why are you laughing?" he asked while feeling his cheek. I shrugged and heard my phone ringing. "Hello?" I asked while getting up. "Hello? Miss Hope?" the contractor said. "Oh! Yes hello. Is there something wrong?" I asked while walking around the room as Jungkook watched me. "Oh no, its nothing. I'm just here to remind you that the bill is due in a few days." "Oh really? Do you mind if I go over there now?" "No problem. Please, if you're busy, I don't mind since it's not late." "No, it's okay. I'd rather turn it in earlier." "Okay then, please be careful while you're coming over. It's getting late." "It's alright, I'll be fine. I'll see you later." I hung up the phone and I looked over at Jungkook who was staring at me with curiosity. "Who was that?" he asked while getting up. "Oh, it was just the contractor. She told me that the bill is due in a few days so I'm planning on giving the money to her now." I said while opening the doom. I walked and bumped into Jin. "I'm sorry Jin. I bumped into you.." I mumbled and he chuckled while ruffling my hair. "It's okay. Where are you going? You going home now?" he asked me while scratching his head. "I'm heading over to the contractor to pay my bills. Oh yeah, I made you guys soup. Drink it when you're hungry." I said while walking out. When I got downstairs, I noticed Namjoon fast asleep on the sofa and I chuckled while taking a random coat and wrapping it over him. I wore my shoes, wrapped my scarf and turned around and I saw Jin standing there. "You sure you're gonna be fine alone? I can go with you." he said while taking his coat. I shook my head. "No! You're still sick. I'll be okay." I said with a smile. I noticed Jungkook in the back and I waved good bye to them both. I headed out in the snowy trails, first to my house and then the contractor's home. I unlocked my door and quickly grabbed the money from my drawer and headed out. I walked carefully in the early night and saw tons of people walking around, whether they just got off work or heading out for some food. I took the trains to the main city and headed to the contractor's place in an apartment building. I walked inside the luxurious building and told the security guard who I was here for. "Mrs.Kim? Someone is here for you." the man said on the phone. He nodded and smiled at me as he walked me to the elevator. "Her room is on the 8th floor, room 80A." he said while pressing the button for me. I thanked him as I got on and the door closed. The door opened and I walked towards the room and I saw the door opening. "Hope! I didn't think you would come right now." the contractor greeted me in her pajamas. I nodded with a smile as she let me in her home. It was a grand house/area. It had a big open living room, kitchen, two bathrooms and a big bedroom. "Do you live alone?" I asked while taking off my shoes. She shook her head while pouring some tea in a cup. "No, I live with my husband, but he's still at work now. He'll be back in a few hours though." she said while grabbing the cup of sugar from her pantry. I sat down on her couch and smiled as I saw portraits of her family. "Are you comfy? Did you have dinner yet?" she asked while setting down the steaming cup in front of me. I nodded. "I see you have a daughter. Does she still live with you guys?" I asked while sipping the tea. She shook her head. "She's married now. She has a wonderful husband and 2 kids. She's living happily and I'm very proud of her." she said as she showed me a picture of her daughter with her kids. "That must be great." I said with a smile. I felt a little sad actually, since my parents are no longer here with me. They passed away a while ago and honestly, I have no memories with them. "Is there something wrong?" Mrs.Kim asked as she looked over at me. I shook my head and gave her a hopeful smile. "No I'm okay, don't worry." "Are you sure? You can always tell me what's wrong." she said as placed her warm hands over mine. I nodded and told her about my story. My life really. How I lost my parents when I was at a young age. I grew up with my relatives but I left when I was around 15 since they probably never liked me. I managed to sleep at cheap love hotels and worked at many jobs to earn just enough money for hot food. It was quiet when I finished my story. She gave me a warm hug while she stroked my head. "I'm so sorry sweetie.." she whispered. I nodded as I felt tears brimming my eyes. When she let go, she wiped away the tears and held my hands. "Say, we should have dinner together. You haven't ate yet right?" she asked while getting up. I shook my head as I watched her grab her coat and keys. "Great! Let's go for some good food." she said excitedly as she grabbed my hands. I put on my shoes and followed her lead. We headed to a nearby resturant that served soups. "I'm gonna get the kimchi stew, how about you Hope?" she asked as she looked up from the menu. "Are you sure you want to treat me? I mean, I'm sure you have so much on your schedule." I mumbled. "Don't worry. Just pretend that I'm your mom and I'm just taking my daughter out for dinner. Order as much as you want." she said with a smile. I only ordered two things. Oxbone soup and some dumplings. "Here you go, Oxbone soup, dumplings and kimchi stew." the waiter said as he placed the dishes on the table. My mouth watered as the smell wafted into my nose. We dug in and I was super happy. The soup was fresh and very strong in flavors. The dumplings were home made and deliciously made. It was probably one of the best meals I've had in a long time. When we were done, we headed out and she gave me one last hug before separating ways. I stopped by a pharmacy to get medicine for the boys. After, I stopped by a nearby cafe to get myself a warm coffee and some desserts for the guys. "Please wait a little bit." the cashier said as she handed me the money. I nodded and sat down on the sofa as I readjusted my scarf. While I was readjusting my scarf I noticed someone a little weird in the corner of my eyes. I noticed it was man who was staring at me occasionally as he read his newspaper. I rolled my eyes. "Who reads a newspaper this late at night?" I played around with my phone, hoping that it was just a coincidence and he would disappear before I leave. When I looked up after a few minutes, he was still there! Staring at me as well. This is when I started to get worried. It's 11:00 pm and I'm going to be taking the train alone back home. "What should I do?" I asked as I began to panic. I looked back down at my phone and decided to call the boys. I first called Namjoon, but led to voicemail. All of them did. "Damnit. They're all asleep probably.." I sighed while staring at it. After a few seconds, my phone vibrated and my heart jumped in happiness. It was Jungkook. "Better than no one!" I said to myself in joy. "Hello?" a drowsy voice answered. "Jungkook? I'm sorry, did I wake you up?" I whispered as I kept my eye on the man who was taking glances here and there. "No.. but what's the matter? Did you get home yet?" he asked as I heard rustling in the background. "No.. not yet. Listen to me Jungkook, is it possible if you can pick me up?" I asked trying not to sound too scared. I nibbled on the bottom of my lip as the man began to watch me more intensely. "Why what's happening?" he asked worriedly. "There's a strange man in this cafe I'm in right now. I'm in Caffe Primo. Please Jungkook.. hurry." I begged. "Don't worry, I'll be there in a few. Hang in there." he said before hanging up. Now it's all up on time.
I managed to get my drinks and food but Jungkook still didn't arrive yet. It's been a good 10 minutes and I've been sitting in the cafe. The man was still there but this time, he was even closer and drinking an americano. "Ugh!" I cursed in my head while nibbling my lips. "Should I just leave..?" I asked myself. My heart was racing and I decided to get up and get out of here. My heart was on the verge of bursting when I noticed he got up too. "I'm gonna die today aren't I?" I cried as I opened the door. I bumped into someone and heard panting from the person. I looked up and felt my whole world melt down when I saw it was Jungkook. Tears escaped my eyes as his arms wrapped around me, giving me a warm hug. I cried silently in his hold while he soothed me down. He glared at the man that was about to come towards me and his eyes widened when he saw Jungkook. The man exited out the other side of the door. Jungkook let out a sigh as he watched him leave. "What a perv." Jungkook growled. I wiped my tears away and looked up at Jungkook who was still obviously mad. "I-I'm sorry. It's my fault. I shouldn't have gone out anyway. I should've listened to you before.." I rambled on. Jungkook's expression softened as his eyes met with mine. "As long as you're safe, it's okay." He whispered while holding onto my shoulder, leading me outside. We walked together silently, heading towards the trains. We sat down on the seats, his arm still wrapped around me. "What is that?" He asked while pointing to the box and the bags. "Oh. Here, I got you guys some medicine. I noticed you guys didn't have any cold medicines lying around so I stopped by a pharmacy." I said while handing the bag. "Oh.." he said while taking it. He ruffled my head and I pouted slightly. "Thank you Hope." The rest of the train ride was quiet. His warmth and his hold calmed me down from what happened before and I was so thankful. When we arrived, we walked quietly around the snowy neighborhood. It was quiet, only hearing the sounds of our feet crunching on the snow. Jungkook decided to hold on my hand instead of holding onto my shoulder, as he said I would be more "safe" so I don't slip on the snow. When we arrived in front of my house, he went up with me to the stairway and to the front of my door. "Are you sure you're gonna be okay?" he asked. I nodded. "Thank you Jungkook. If it weren't for you, who knows where I would've been." I said with a smile. He placed his hand on my head, rubbing it as if I was a puppy. His hand then traveled to my cheek and my cheeks heated up from his sudden movement. His face came closer to mine and I squint my eyes. His lips touched my forehead ever so slightly and I felt electricity run through my body. When his lips left, I opened my eyes and he was already heading down the stairs. He turned around and waved. "Good night." A/n: OOOOOOOH Jungkook made a move on Hope. Hehehehe how will Jin react to this? Who knows~ I hope you enjoyed the chapter. This is probably the longest chapter I've written so far. I'll probably update again this week but I have no promises. Oh yes, thank you to those that recently subscribed and upvoted to my story. I'm so thankful for each and every one of you. Even if you're a lil silent reader, I still love you guys so much. Have a great day! ^^
