Chapter 6: Better acquain (1/1)

Chapter 6: Better acquainted Hongki had been dragging Yonghwa almost everywhere. He dragged him to his classroom, to the men’s bathroom, to the teacher’s lounge, and finally, to the cafeteria. Yonghwa was so hungry since he only ate cereal this morning. Even though grains would help your stomach fill up, it didn’t work for him. He was really hungry that he finally got pissed off at Hongki. It wasn’t mainly because he kept dragging him to just about anywhere or the fact that he was hungry, he exploded because he could have been talking with Seohyun but Hongki kidnapped him when he was about to go meet with them.“Yah! Stop dragging me around like I’m your doll will ya?!” Yonghwa finally spoke his feelings out, too bad that he had to shout it out though.“It’s cause you’re too slow! Okay, enough about this, let’s stand in line. I’m freakin’ starving now, seriously.” Hongki ignored Yonghwa’s sudden outburst and plea and dragged him, yet again to stand in line. They shouldn’t waste time fighting over something as childish as that when they have to first worry about their grumbling stomachs.“Aish… There are only a few good ones left.” Hongki was talking to himself yet again. He had a habit of doing that, since he had been moving ever since he was little which led to him being alone in school, only at the beginning though.“What do they have left?” Yonghwa forgot why he was angry with Hongki a minute ago, due to starvation. It was too early to abstinence for them. They don’t even know what abstinence means, first of all.“Oh, they have Creamy Avocado and White Bean Wrap, Caesar Salad with croutons, Ranch Chicken Tacos, Buffalo Chicken Wrap, Chicken Bake, Cream Spaghetti with Mushrooms, Tuna Melt, Sweet and Spicy Chicken with Chow Fun. God, I’m getting hungry already listing all of these to you.” Yonghwa was feeling the same thing too. He was getting hungrier than before, and he blamed himself for even asking Hongki. His decision to ask him made his situation worse than it already is.“Aish! When will this line move?” You would have thought that it was Yonghwa who said that but it was a guy behind him.“Yah! Jungmo! What’s up man, haven’t seen you over the summer!” Hongki temporarily forgot just how hungry he was and why he was even standing in line when he saw his friend, and fellow guitar-appreciator, Kim Jung Mo.“Oh, Yonghwa! This here is Kim Jung Mo; he plays the guitar just like us. And Jungmo, this is my childhood friend, Jung Yong Hwa.” He said as he introduced the two strangers to each other. Both of them gave reassuring nods to each other, showing the way of greeting each other in Korea. “Oh, so you play the guitar, Yonghwa-ssi?”“Ah de. I do. But I’m not really that good yet hehehe.” He was trying to be humble, but not because he thought of himself as a bad guitar player.“Yah! What do you mean by that? Don’t listen to this jashik. He plays good. He even plays better than me!” Hongki was informing Jungmo of Yonghwa’s skills, since it was true. Well, for Hongki, that is. Jungmo never really saw Yonghwa play so he could not yet say whether he was a badass player or just plain bad.As the three kept talking about music, guitars and band, the line started moving and it was a good thing they followed as well, since they were so absorbed into their own little conversation. If not, then the people behind them would have shouted and kicked them out of the line. But then the feisty Hongki would shout and fight back to get in line. Even though they were so into their conversation, they still couldn’t forget that they were hungry. Talking was just a distraction for their stomachs’ complaints.After 5 minutes of being in line, they finally arrived in front and they each took a tray of their own. Hongki grabbed just about anything he could get hold of and proceeded to the cashier since he was in the way. Jungmo grabbed a chicken bake, a slice of tiramisu cake, a can of cold Pepsi and bottled water and paid his share. Yonghwa, on the other hand, was pressured as the people he was with were already done while he still wasn’t. The more when he saw the people in line’s expressions and faces. He just grabbed a Creamy Avocado and White Bean Wrap, Caesar Salad, an apple juice box and bottled water. He didn’t even notice that his tray was filled with healthy food that when he paid for the meal and got out of line, he finally regretted ever hurrying up and just grabbing whatever he could.“Yah Yonghwa! You going healthy now? When did you ever eat healthy stuff, huh?” Hongki was practically grinning and looked like he was about to laugh incessantly until he heard somebody shout his name from across the cafeteria.“Yah! Hongki-ah!” The three boys saw a tiny, white skinned girl with straight bangs wave at them, to make sure that the guys saw her. In fact they did, and Hongki ushered the two to follow them towards the girls’ table.“Yah! Hongki-oppa!” Seven other girls were seated with the girl who shouted Hongki’s name just now.“Oh, come sit with us Hongki. Let your friends sit too.” Taeyeon didn’t see who his friends were since she was looking behind the girls opposite of hers. She was keeping a look out for Leeteuk. As much as she doesn’t wanna see his face and remembering Hongki’s advice in the morning, she still can’t let her guard down. When she turned her head, she was surprised to see Jungmo and Seohyun’s gu- err, the guy from earlier with Hongki.“Yah! You’re that guy from this morning!? Omo! You come sit here in the middle! We have to talk!” Taeyeon and the girls didn’t really mean to scare him off but when she said, “to talk,” he flinched. They might tell me off or something. I don’t even know them yet.“What are you doing with my-oh-so-dear childhood friend there Taengoo?” Hongki was curious as to why the girls wanted to talk with Yonghwa. “Did you meet these guys in the morning? Omo… These girls here are trouble I tell ya. Just stay away from them after this, okay Yonghwa?” He was just kidding but Taeyeon gave him a “just shut up” glare. He sat in his seat like the good boy Taeyeon wanted him to be.“Now, your name’s Yonghwa?” Yoona was the first one to ask. The girls had a lot of questions for him and they weren’t gonna let him off until he answers all of them. “Uhhh… De. Oh, I didn’t notice you there Yoona-ssi. Annyeonghaseyo.” He said as he bowed and Yoona did the same while saying the same thing as he did.“Yah! You guys know each other? Ohhhh…” The others were giving her combinations of suspicious glares and smiles. “Well, he is my classmate anyways.” The girls seemed to have lowered their guard down a little when they saw Yonghwa agree with her.“Anyways, yah! You were the one who kept on staring at uri maknae, weren’t you?” Hongki almost spewed the soda that he was about to drink at Jungmo, who was infront of him.“What?! Seohyun?! Yah… Yonghwa, so it was Seohyun that you were telling me about this morning? Yah. Better back out. These sisters of her are all so over protective of her.” Hongki pointed to the girls as if he was drunk, when he was only drinking soda. Maybe soda had alcohol nowadays.“Yah! Of course we are! She’s never been in love so we have to first approve of her first ever boyfriend, don’t we?” The girls all nod in agreement. Yonghwa couldn’t help but blush at what he just heard. He didn’t know if he was to be happy that Seohyun never had a first love yet but they called him, Jung Yong Hwa, Seohyun’s boyfriend? All the more be called her first ever boyfriend? He couldn’t help but go red that everyone noticed it. The girls just squealed while Jungmo and Hongki just snickered. Yonghwa was flustered and just proceeded to eat the meal that he paid for earlier.“Awwww… Don’t worry we won’t scare you off. But we were serious at what we just said. We know you like her; we could see it in your eyes. Anyways, have you even talked to her yet?” Tiffany was on Yonghwa’s side, the same with the other girls. They all saw how Yonghwa just blushed and they all concluded the same thing. He liked their maknae. Yonghwa liked Seohyun. But the problem was Seohyun.In the past, Seohyun had a lot of admirers and some of the brave ones have had asked her out but they all ended the same. She would completely reject them, saying that she wasn’t interested in them in that way. She only saw them as friends. For any normal love struck man, those words hurt more than a single no. They knew that if they remained friends, the feelings they had for the girl would still linger and that, she could only see them as a friend, not as a man. The girls had wanted Seohyun to get a boyfriend. They knew how hard that would be but they all saw just how deeply this guy had fallen for their youngest. They only want their maknae’s happiness so they decided to support him and help him out if ever Seohyun falls for him.“Well, not yet.” As soon as he said that, the girls slammed their hands on the table, with their palms and fists hitting their own edge of the table.“What!? Just what the hell is wrong with you?! When will you talk to her then?!” Jessica just shouted at Yonghwa in English. Good thing Yonghwa was the best in his class in English back in his old school in Busan. If not, then he would not have understood what she just said and he could have taken it as a compliment. But that seemed unlikely as you could see from her expression and tone of voice.“Yah! Don’t scare him. Maybe he’s nervous whenever he thinks of talking to Seohyun or maybe he just hasn’t found the right time.” Sunny had just defended Yonghwa. She could see that he was innocent and that if ever he has talked to her, they would have known.“Sunny’s right. The man’s a shy person. He still hasn’t even thought of a plan to sweep her off her feet.” Hongki just revealed important info for the girls, which made them squeal in delight. “Sweep her off her feet? That fast? Aigoo.” Yuri looked down at her plate for feeling embarassed at how mushy that info was.“Okay, let’s move on, what do you like about her?” Tiffany just had to be straightforward that it caught Yonghwa by surprise. Well, he did expect them to ask that but still, it surprised him. He thought long and hard as to what did he like about her goddess.“Well, first of, she’s beautiful.” He paused, trying to see what their reactions were. The silence meant that he should continue on. “She’s pure.” Another round of silence made him think even harder as these girls were hard to please with his answers. Then all of a sudden, lit up as if he finally found the answer, which was what happened. “Her eyes. Her clear eyes. I like that.” The girls could only squeal again in glee and delight at his answer. It was as if he hit the jackpot.“You are one different guy.” Taeyeon said as she put her hand on his shoulder while nodding. The girls nodded in agreement. “You wanna know why? We’ve asked all her previous suitors and admirers and they only said the same things over and over again. She’s beautiful, smart, innocent, pure, tall and all that stuff. But yours was different. You were the first one who said that and I think we all agree, right?”Tons of yes, right and even a so true could be heard from the girls, and even Hongki and Jungmo was answering. Hyoyeon had just told him of something he should be proud of. He was, indeed, proud.­Jonghyun wasn’t with Yonghwa, nor was he with Minhyuk and Jungshin. His new classmate, Wooyoung, had invited him to go get lunch together. The two suddenly clicked with each other even though the one was a guitar player while the other was a dancer. Maybe it was because they were both good and popular with the girls that they finally got on good terms.As they were walking on their way to the cafeteria, a girl accidentally bumped into Wooyoung, dropped something and ran away but not without saying sorry to the guy first.“You bumped into somebody else today too? What luck we both have.” Jonghyun said as he helped Wooyoung up to his feet. “Yah, you too? Not only are we good with the girls, we bump into some too.”“Well, I wouldn’t really call her my type of girl, the one you bumped into. Man, was she… big.” Jonghyun didn’t want to offend the girl more than he already just did so he looked for another word to substitute for the word fat. “Hahaha… Oh, she dropped something.” Wooyoung said as he bent down to pick up whatever the girl dropped. It was a cellphone charm of a milk carton, a baby bottle with water moving inside it and a pink bunny doll.“Hey Wooyoung! What’re you doing? Let’s go get lunch.” Wooyoung quickly hid the girl’s charm in his right jean pocket and went on to the cafeteria to get his lunch.After minutes of standing in line, they had finally gotten infront and had quickly grabbed their respective choices of edible food. They returned their trays and just took their sandwiches and sodas with them and proceeded to go to an old part of the school. In there, there was a guy who looked as if he was waiting for him and Wooyoung.“Jonghyun, I wanna introduce you to Ok Taec Yeon. Taecyeon, this is Lee Jong Hyun.”“Oh, Jonghyun-ssi. What’s up? Nice to meet you.” Taecyeon had grown up in the United Stated the past seven years so he had not been quiet accustomed to the way people greet in his mother country. “Oh shoot. Sorry, but I forgot that I was in another country. It seems I still haven’t gotten used to it. Anyways, annyeonghaseyo Jonghyun-ssi.” He said as he bowed and with Jonghyun doing the same too.“Annyeonghaseyo Taecyeon-ssi.”“Yah! You guys are too formal. Anyways, Taecyeon and I grew up in the United States so we’ve been hanging out together since we don’t know anybody much yet. And to add to that, we sometimes forget our manners.” Wooyoung said as a matter-of-factly.“Oh, is that so? Well, you don’t really need to worry. I bet you’ll find friends in a few weeks into the school year. Oh, what are we doing here anyways?”“This is where we hang out. Nobody really uses this room much during this time so me and Taecyeon get to use it from time to time. Cool isn’t it?” As they enter the room, Taecyeon flipped the lights switch open and what Jonghyun saw amazed him. The room had a large sofa, had a low coffee table in the middle, bean bags of all sorts, shapes and colors, a few posters of famous dancers and groups like the Jabbawockeez, Hong10, Ronnie and Hollywood stars such as Usher and the like. They had a furry rainbow colored carpet in the middle that helps accents the cold, barren wooden floor. You could see just how clean the floor was and how it looked like it was waxed from seeing your own reflection in it. They had an old, reused Karaoke machine in the corner. And in there was a large space in the middle, enough for 10 people to dance to. The place was really big, and even if you put all the stuff mentioned, it would still look big.“Plus, this is where we practice our dance moves and stuff like that. We both live in a dorm so that’ll just disturb the people under us.”“Oh, awesome…” Jonghyun couldn’t help but be in awe at how cool the place was. “Do the teachers know?” He asked as he inspects the stuff lying around. He saw a few books, a few broken picture frames, a tire-less bicycle and a birdcage with a pink bunny doll in the center.“Well, this place is never really used so I guess?” Taecyeon shrugged as he said that. They never really told anybody else about this place since nobody ever comes to this part of the school. They guessed it was okay since nobody really warned them to go near the place.“This is sick…” He said as he plopped himself down on the navy blue sofa that was at the right sight of the humongous room. “I know right? But you can’t tell anyone alright? This place is a secret.” Wooyoung said with as much seriousness as he could show in his expression. “Sure thing.”“Anyways, I’m hungry. You bought something for me Wooyoung?” Taecyeon had asked Wooyoung to buy him something for lunch. He had gone on ahead to guard their hangout from any intruders or nuisances. “Yeah, here.” Wooyoung threw Taecyeon a burger wrapped in tin foil and a can of soda. “Yeah, thanks man.” They all started eating hungrily as they haven’t eaten anything for the 200 minutes of class and as they ate, they also started to talk and ask each others questions.The bell rang, meaning that lunch was over and Seohyun took the two others’ trays to put it back in the cafeteria. “Oh, you didn’t need to.” Minhyuk said as he scratched the back of his head. They both felt embarrassed that they had the girl return their trays for them. “Oh, then, annyeong Minhyuk-ah, Jungshin-chingoo. I still have to go to the bathroom. See you later.” Seohyun bowed and ran ahead with her hygiene pouch in hand.“Oh! Yong seobang! Annyeong! We have to go to the bathroom first. See you next time! Yah! Don’t be afraid to talk to uri Hyunnie. She’ll love you as much as we do. Well, maybe more than we ever will.” The girls ran off squealing and holding unto each other’s arm.“Aigoo…” was all Yonghwa could say at just how embarrassing his first lunch at his new school was.“Yah Yonghwa-yah! Don’t be afraid. Hyunnie is a nice kid. She’ll like you.” Jungmo said to assure Yonghwa that he’s in safe hands. “And yeah, just forget about those girls. They always squeal like that. You know how girls are. Good thing the one you fell in love with is the only sane person in their group.” Hongki was grinning from ear to ear and was laughing at Yonghwa.“Yah! Jonghyun! Slow down! It’s not like we’re in a hurry.” Wooyoung said as he handed Jonghyun his can of Coca-cola. “The bell rang already so yeah. I can’t be late to class.” He didn’t really wanna be late to class. “Oh, we still have 20 minutes before class starts anyways so chillax bro.” Taecyeon assured that he wasn’t in a need to hurry. They then threw away the pile of tin foils and cans of sodas in the room’s very own personalized trashcan. Taecyeon and Wooyoung had seen this lying around somewhere in the streets and looked so cool and funny that they just had to bring it to their hang out. It was a trashcan with a drawing of a random anime character’s mouth open, with it being the shoot of the trashcan.“Hell yeah!” Jonghyun had tried to shoot the can of soda into the hole from a 15 feet distance and it went in.Within 15 minutes, almost every student emerged from the bathroom after they had brushed their teeth and proceeded to their respective classroom. Brushing your teeth after lunch was a common thing, more of like a part of their culture, in Korea.The bell rang once again, meaning the afternoon classes were about to start.A/N: Finally! Ugh, new world record! (For me, that is) I finished three chapters in one day. Ughhh... My back hurts (-_-)Anyways, it's a new accomplishment for me, yehey! So... Not a lot of line breaks in this one. I was in a hurry to finish this chapter plus I haven't really planned out what to do for this chapter. I'm so sorry if it's boring. Well, except for the part where the SoShi unnies interoggated Yonghwa. OMG I was practically grinning on that part. I was going to add a few more questions for Yonghwa but then, I'm not in my right mind at the moment to think up of an answer to them. So... Yeah, I'll just leave it be :)Oh! If ever you wonder why I put about the students brushing their teeth, it is because it is something that Korean students do. Yes, they do it everyday. The bathrooms are always crowded during the near end of lunch. And the teachers have a machine that warms up their toothbrushes. The ones that clean the bristles by warm air or something like that. You could search it up on Eat Your Kimchi's blogspot :) Hmmm, what else? OMG I was getting hungry yet again when I was typing down the food menu. Ughhhh... TACOS EVERYBODY!! Me needs tacos!Hmmm, what else? Oh, Taecyeon and Wooyoung's hangout was modeled after the basement practice room from Dream High. Yes, I am now heavily influenced by Dream High xDDDDD Oh, who could be the girl who bumped into Wooyoung? Well, some of you may know already but hush hush people :)Anywho, I edited the chapter yet again since it's hard to read with the dialogue together with the text so yeah, just don't be shy to point that out to me. If ever, I might just enlarge the text. I don't know why I like smaller text on things like these (-_-)Oh, I am editing this all the way from San Fran. Ah! San Francisco...
