Chapter 127 (1/1)
The next day, Seungcheol dressed in a suit and tie, just like he would for work. He combed his black hair and straightened his black jacket. Making sure his teeth were clean, he walked downstairs with tired eyes. Staying up all night is definitely not good for his health. But it had to be done in order to do night shift tonight. He saw Jeonghan pouring a cup of coffee. The younger then handed the cup to Seungcheol. He smelled the coffee first, letting the bitterness fill his senses and wake him up. He hummed at the flavor as he drank it slowly. He then opened his eyes to look at Jeonghan. "What will you and Jae be up to while I'm gone today?" Seungcheol asked, knowing that the college student will be coming over today. Jeonghan shrugged. "I don't know.. I haven't gotten any shopping lists from the kids, so I'll probably just stay home and watch their kids." He chuckled. Seungcheol smirked a little. "Alright.. when I get home, I'm going straight to bed." He said with a little yawn. "Do you want me to drive you?" Jeonghan asked, seeing the man's tired eyes and slow movements. "Mark should be here in a couple hours to pick me up," He said as he looked at his watch, "Dongwan doesn't want me to drive, so.." Jeonghan nodded and watched the male drink some more coffee. "You know.. you seem a little distant when you mention Mark. What's up?" He asked. Seungcheol shrugged. "He was my classmate in high school, and he was a real asshole." He said, having the urge to run his hands through his bangs but refrained from doing so. "Seems like we both knew a couple of assholes growing up, huh?" Jeonghan smirked, looking down at the floor as he leaned back against the counter. Seungcheol nodded and finished the cup of coffee. "At least he and Wendy actually got married. I suppose there was some sort of love in there." He said. "Wendy?" Jeonghan asked. "My ex.." Seungcheol muttered. "I thought I've told you before.. but I don't blame you for forgetting." He said, filling the cup up with water. Jeonghan grimaced. "Kinda awkward then.." He commented. "Definitely. Mostly because he's kinda nice now." Seungcheol laughed a little "I remember him from school, but when I see him at work, it's like he's a totally different person." He put a hand up. Jeonghan smiled and crossed his legs, still leaning on the counter. "I suppose everyone has their changes when they grow up, right?" He said. "You don't have feelings for her still, do you?" He asked a little teasingly. Seungcheol waved his hand as he was getting a drink. "No, Jeonghan." He said, putting the glass down. "She's in the past, you're my present that I want to cherish even in the future." He said as he trapped Jeonghan on the counter. Jeonghan blushed and let the man kiss him. They had all night to cuddle, but a few more kisses wouldn't bother Jeonghan. And it definitely didn't bother Seungcheol. He put his arms around the angel, bringing them close in their sweet and innocent kiss. Seungcheol pulled back a little after a moment or two. "Perhaps.. when I get home, if you're not busy.. We could cuddle a little more?" Seungcheol asked. Jeonghan smiled with bright pink cheeks. "I'll wake you up when it's dinner time." He agreed. "Good that you two are still romantic." They heard Joshua say. The pair looked at Joshua in shock for a short moment. Jeonghan clears his throat first. "You're down a little early." He commented. Joshua hummed and took a mug from the cabinet, walking up to the coffee maker where the parents were at. They gave Joshua some space. "I have an errand to run before I go to work." He said, pouring the coffee. "What's that?" Seungcheol asked. "I ran out of eyeliner." Joshua chuckled, looking at them with his bare eyes. Jeonghan smirked and shook his head. "Does Jae like your eyes having makeup?" He asked out of curiosity. Joshua sipped on the coffee with a small shrug. "Not really, but I don't wear makeup for him." He said, looking down at the coffee before taking another sip. "Who do you wear it for then?" Jeonghan asked, an amused smile playing in his lips. "For myself. I just wear it because I want to." Joshua said, putting a hand on the table behind him and leaning that way. Jeonghan hummed and looked at Seungcheol. "It's good that Jae likes your inherited beauty." Jeonghan said with a proud smile. Joshua laughed, putting his mug down before he spilled any coffee. "You're really full of yourself, you know that?" He said. Jeonghan smirked. "I wouldn’t say it if it weren't true." He said. "I'm beautiful, right Cheol?" He turned to Seungcheol with lovely eyes. Seungcheol instantly blushed, the tips of his ears turned pink. "Gorgeous." He stated Joshua put his hands together. "Alright, Grandpa-Jeong," He turned to the said parent, "I'm going to the store now." He said with a smug smile. Jeonghan smiled sweetly. "Ah yes," He looked down and closed his eyes, "even my grandchildren are beautiful." He said. Joshua rolled his eyes. "Anyway," He got Jeonghan's attention again, "tell Jae that I expect him to be at the cafe at lunch and that he better not be late. Or else." Joshua said, putting the empty mug in the dishwasher. "Or else..?" Seungcheol was curious to know. "Because if he's late, he'll miss the cake eating contest." Joshua answered.
Jeonghan was surprised. "Cake contest..?" He asked. Joshua hummed and patted his lips dry from the coffee. "Someone came up with the idea, I think it was a kid named Donghyuck." He said, holding his chin. "Anyway, whoever eats the most cake in one hour won't have to pay for the cake they ate." "And they get free stuff at the cafe for a year." Joshua included. "So naturally, I want Jae to win. It'll be useful for him to get free drinks and stuff whenever he comes over here." He smiled brightly. Jeonghan chuckled a little. "Well then, I'll make sure he goes." He said, folding his arms. "I'll watch that." Yeosang creeps up to the table and straightens his shirt. "And it's during the lunch hour? I'm down for watching Jae stuff his face." He said, looking at Woozi and Seokmin entering the kitchen along with Seungkwan. "Yeah, it's gonna be pretty fun." Joshua said, watching Jun come in as well. "Jae's going against Donghyuck, Shindong, and Minhyun." He listed the contestants. Yeosang was perplexed. "Okay, but who the hell is Donghyuck?" He asked. He knew fully well that Shindong is one of Leeteuk's kids. He had tailored a suit for him a month or so ago. And of course Ren has spoken about Minhyun plenty of times when he's come over for dinner. "He's a student from Seoul, I hear." Joshua said, scratching his neck "He moved here not too long ago, so I don't know where he works. I haven't spoken to him that much." He continued. Yeosang's eyebrows went down as he looked off to the distance. "His name sounds.. familiar.." He said. Joshua gave a fake smile. "Uhuh, guess what? Many people in the world share the same name." He said in a no-duh tone. "There are a whole bunch of Joshuas, just like there are probably a fair amount of Yeosangs." He finished. Yeosang furrowed his eyebrows with a slight pout. "You don't have to be mean.." He muttered. "Eh, just don't listen to him." Seokmin said. "He's cranky because he doesn't have his confidence booster. Aka, his eyeliner." He said, patting Yeosang's forearm. Joshua huffed. "Excuse me? Confidence booster?" He asked in disbelief. "You're not one to talk, DK. You can't do anything without having Woozi's approval." He pointed at the younger. "It's called a second opinion." Seokmin mumbled. Seungkwan smirked as he lifted the cereal he had in his spoon to his lips. "Sounds like Josh is going cranky again. What, did Jae not text you last night or something?" He asked before eating the cereal. "Who the hell are you calling cranky?" Joshua gave him a death glare. "I mean," Yeosang put his hands up, "you might be a little mean, but not necessarily cranky.. Is there something wrong?" He asked. "Nothing is wrong, and I'm not being mean." Joshua said. "So just shut up." He stomped out of the kitchen.
Jeonghan heard Seungcheol sigh. "I wonder what that's all about.." Seungcheol commented. "Maybe he'll be happier when Jae gets into town." Jun suggested. Jeonghan thought for a moment. "I guess it could be that running has him being sore." He inputted. "Why was he running?" Yeosang asked automatically. "Was he getting chased? I'll deal with it." He said, taking his coat off. Jeonghan raised an eyebrow. "He was running for exercise." He said. Yeosang looked at him with confused eyes. "Exercise..? Is someone making fun of him or something?" He asked. "Chill," Woozi held his shoulder, "He saw an old video of Jeonghan running online and wanted to do it too." He smiled at Yeosang. Jeonghan smiled. "Wow.. Really? He saw me?" He asked. "Which competition was it?" He was starting to get excited. "The one when you were competing against our college team on your birthday." Woozi replied. Seungcheol smiled as he remembered the day. "I remember that one.. I rewarded myself for getting a good grade on my test by watching the competition." He said in a dreamy tone. He remembered the younger's hair coming undone as he ran faster than everyone else. "That was my last competition.." Jeonghan said, a bittersweet smile on his lips. "Well you did very well that day." Woozi said with a smile. "It was interesting to see a younger version of Suho.." He commented. "So.." Yeosang started up. "There's.. no danger..?" He asked, looking around the kitchen.
Woozi chuckled. "He's fine, Cupcake." He said. "We need to go, your mom is going to be upset with us getting there late." He poked the boy. Yeosang pouted his lips in a smile. "I thought I was a muffin.." He said. Seungkwan smiled. "Aw, you two are being cute~" He said. "Pft, whatever." Woozi rolled his eyes before smirking at Yeosang. "I'll call you whatever I want." He said. Yeosang put his arm around the shorter with a sweet smile. "Anything from you is a nickname I'll cherish." He said. "Since when did you become all cheesy, Mr. Imma Kill'em?" Seungkwan asked with a judging smirk. Yeosang waved his hand. "I've always been cheesy, it's something that comes with love." He said. "I'm sure you and your stork are cheesy too, Seungkwan." Seungkwan held his arm a little. "He's uh, not my stork.." He said. "We've only been dating for a month and a half." "Hongjoong said that Seonghwa's been thinking about you lately," Jeonghan said, "I would figure you two are pretty serious." He continued. Seungkwan nodded a little. "Yeah, well, I can't claim him as mine, per se.." He said, looking down a touch. Yeosang became serious. "Well if he ever tries to force his claim on you, just tell me." He said. "I'm not afraid of any stork, I'll punch him right back to that nest he came from." He continued, cracking his knuckles. Seungcheol looked down with a small sigh. "So much violence." "Seriously, we need to go Yeosang." Woozi said, watching Seungkwan and Yeosang have a staring battle. Yeosang broke it a bit. "Kay.. But I'm being serious, Seungkwan." He pointed at the diva. "Don't take anyone's shit again." He ended and left with Woozi.
Seungkwan was shocked, naturally. He swallowed inaudibly before spooning up some more cereal. Jun cleared his throat and turned to the parents. "Yeji and I will be taking the class to the temple again for the beginners. Mingi is coming too." He said. Jeonghan hummed and tried to remember what Mingi looked like. "Be careful. Do you need the van?" He asked. "No, we'll be taking the school bus." Jun answered. "I'll text you guys when we get there." He smiled. Mingyu walked in and cracked his neck. "I'll be home to make dinner tonight." He said, getting a granola bar from the pantry. Jeonghan saw Dino walk in as well and he leaned back against the counter once more. "Is Renjuni coming for dinner, Dino?" He asked watching Dino look at a couple labels of some baking supplies in the cabinet. "I think he's pretty busy.." Dino said before closing the cabinet. "My teacher wants me to work at the bakery nearby today." He mentioned. "But I'll be back by four o'clock." He said. Mingyu had an excited smile. "You're working at Miss Gong's bakery?" He asked. "Yes! She already showed me so many pictures of her cats." Dino chuckled. "And you're working for Leeteuk, aren't you?" He asked, knowing that the man's restaurant is somewhere nearby. Mingyu nodded with his invisible puppy tail wagging. "He's running for the admin position at stork school, so he wants to teach me lots of things before he might be elected." He said in amazement. "I think he'd make a good admin." He commented. "Good? He'd make a great admin." Jeonghan corrected. "Maybe he can uncover more about crows and doves.. there's not enough information on them." He said, a small sigh coming from his lips. Seungkwan put down his bowl and had milk on his lips. "You mean like the weird phenomenon of Woozi and Yeosang having kids?" He asked. "Exactly! I read in the library that once the dove dies, the crow is then seen as a crow without a dove." Jeonghan stated the facts. "And if he's a crow without a dove, he can't have kids with a crow that has a dove! It doesn't make any sense!" He held his head. "Not to mention that the book says that he's supposed to turn black after the crow is drawn all the way." Seokmin commented. Jeonghan closed his eyes and let out a frustrated sigh. "I mean, I'm grateful that it didn't end that way.." He said. "I just.. I just wish I could understand it." He muttered. "I'm sure there's something that's being hidden.." Mingyu said. Just then, the sound of the doorbell tore the family out of their discussion. "That must be Mark." Seungcheol said, looking at the clock. "Damn, time passes by." He shook his head. "Which means you guys need to go." Jeonghan said, getting off of the counter. "I don't want you all to be late like Woozi and Yeosang." He chuckled. Seungcheol opened the door and saw that it was that man. He allowed him in, and walked to the kitchen. The kids were finishing up their routine inside. Jeonghan saw the male. His black hair is flipped to the side and his suit is worn properly. "Hello, I'm Mark Tuan." He waved at the kids before locking eyes with Jeonghan. "And this is the gorgeous angel that Seungcheol talks nonstop about." He walked closer, still giving the proper distance for personal space.
Jeonghan bowed slightly. "That's me." He smiled. "You'll take care of my sleepy hubby today?" He asked. Mark looked at the male with a smile. "Of course, we need him to be up and running well in order to evaluate the sales." He said. "I'm sorry that we couldn't have done this on a week day." He said with an apologetic look. Seungcheol shrugs and finishes the mug of water. "It's alright, it doesn't happen that often." He said. "Should we get going?" He asked. Mark bowed. "Yes, Sir." He said. Seungcheol turned to Jeonghan and kissed his cheek. "I'll see you soon, okay?" He smiled. Jeonghan smiled back. "Be careful." He waved.
Then those two were gone.
