Secrets & confusion (1/1)

Chapter 4: Secrets & confusion. He threw the towel on the bed and picked the gun that was on the nightstand as he looked around. It was clear. He then moved slowly, trying not to make the single noise, into the living room.“You finally woke up. I was getting bored here” She said putting down the newspaper she was reading as she smirked at him.He put the gun down, still staring at her, trying to guess who she was, what she was doing there, and how the hell did she get in.“Your door’s password isn’t that hard to guess, if you were wondering” She said as she stood up moving into the kitchen. “Was it the date of her birthday?.. Interesting”Jaejoong kept silence, he felt as if he was oblivious of what was going on at that very moment; he didn’t understand what was happening. Her face was kind of familiar; he’s never met her before, though. The way she moved sent shivers throughout his body, why? He didn’t even know. Hearing her voice sent him to nowhere specific, it sent him where he felt lost, where a big burden was filling the depths of his racing heart.‘Was it the date of her birthday?’ these words were chanting repeatedly in his head. How did she know about her? How could she find out? How did she know him? Who the hell was she?Uee poured a cup of coffee then broke the silence remaining. “You want some?” He didn’t respond. “Guess not”Jaejoong turned around, breaking his train of thoughts. She was leaning into the counter, sipping calmly her coffee. He moved without hesitation into where she was standing. Moving closer, with every step he made the anger and the fear increased; with every step, he felt his knees weakening; and for some reason he was unable to take that gun he held and shoot her right in the head.“Who the fuck are you?” He bluntly asked, his face only inches away from hers. She didn’t answer; instead she smiled a bitter smile that sent volts of electricity into his body, getting off of his grip.“Well, well, look who finally came back to his senses.” She said as she put down the cup of coffee she held in her hand, she then handed him the day’s newspaper, “Looks like you’re on move again.”Jaejoong was staring deeply into her eyes trying to figure out the many sorts of emotions and memories they brought to him.“Who are you?” It was nearly a whisper, but loud enough for her to hear.“It doesn’t matter. All you need to know now is that you and I have some business to do together.”“I have no business to do with you. You can leave now.” If glares could kill she would be dead right away.He heaved a deep breath to calm down his for an unknown reason agitated self and headed into his room only to be stopped by the words he feared but also hoped to hear the most.“She still is alive, Jae.”He turned around with a very confused look overtaking his face.“What do you mean?”“Kim Yu Jin, she’s alive” She raised her head to face him.He didn’t dare to move nor too make the single sound. He just stood there, his eyes full of disbelief.Alive. Yes that she was. He didn’t know what feeling was overwhelming him. Was it joy? Because it was the same exact thing he had hoped to hear for years now. Was it fear? Because what he feared the most was the fact that it might be a lie, a lie that can torture his soul for the rest of his days.Jaejoong held back the many sorts of emotions overwhelming him. He could not let her see how weak he was at that very moment. In fact, talking about that one person, or even saying her name made him weaker than ever. It made crying his eyes out an easy thing to do. It killed him.“And how am I supposed to-”“She wanted to go to Japan so badly, where she was born.” She looked straight into his eyes, “She told me that you promised her to take her there; it was in a summer day, you both were sitting in the shadow of a chestnut tree near the lake where you used to run away from the orphanage to be alone. You took her hands in yours and said: ‘Trust me; we’ll go there one day.’ You looked into her eyes, smiled and told her she was beautiful.”“Stop it” He whispered.“And then you leaned-”“Stop it” His voice rose slightly.“You were both kids, but you can’t imagine what a kiss on the cheek could make her feel at that moment. She was-”“I told you to knock the fuck off” He yelled. He lowered his head as his eyes started to water, his knees started to weaken and memories of her started to be evoked in his mind. That was a painful memory of her. A memory that only the two of them knew. That fact hit him. She was not lying.‘She isn’t lying’ He thought to himself as knocks on the door got their attention.Their eyes met as she asked with a worried tone “Are you expecting someone?”He shook his head as he aimed the gun he was holding to the door, carefully approaching it. He nodded to the door so that she’d come to open it.“At the count of three” He whispered. She nodded heaving a sigh.“One”“Two”“Now”She opened the door to meet eyes with a very confused figure.“Woah, easy dude; it’s me.”“Yeah, I’ve noticed” Jaejoong said with an annoyed look painted on his face as he put the gun down. “What do you want?”His eyes landed on the bare chest of Jaejoong then he stared at the girl standing beside him. “Did I interrupt something?” He asked amused. They exchanged looks.“No”“She isn’t my… You know… Girlfriend.”“Yeah right, right. And I’m Spiderman” He said with a sarcastic tone as he made his way into the kitchen.“Why is your fridge always empty, huh?” He shouted out. He then walked into the living room with a bottle of milk in his hand. “Where’s she?”“Gone” Jae answered while putting on a white shirt.“Where to?”“Is it that important for you to know?”“Come on dude, tell me”“I don’t know”He raised an eyebrow. “I’m worried”“uhm”“I’m serious”“uhm”“Don’t uhm me. What’s wrong, Kim Jaejoong?” He said as he sat on the couch beside him.Jaejoong stared into his eyes. “Nothing” He answered.“You’ve been avoiding me for like two weeks. No. You’ve been avoiding everyone.” He stated. “You were about to forget about everything. But no. God knows why and what happened to make you change your mind”“She’s alive” Jae blurted out. “Alive, I tell you.”The shocked look on his friend’s face could disclose the many words his mouth wanted to say; his eyes revealed the questions he wanted to ask, they noised the feelings Jae felt for her, how much he loved her, how much he cared and how much her absence affected him…That kind of friends he was, the kind that knew everything and kept it; the friend K.Hero could have among everyone surrounding him. He might be a sarcastic nagging bitch sometimes, he was a trust worthy man though. The kind of men Jaejoong could trust. Park Chinhae.   To be continued…
