chapter 5 (1/1)
The sound of the bell ringing was a music to every student’s ears. The bell rang, means school’s ended, no more lesson, and the students are free to do what they want because it’s Friday, means tomorrow is weekend. Haera was still feeling down, that she didn’t even answer or respond to whatever Minhee was saying to her. Minhee sighed. When are you going to stop being like this? Minhee decided to just leave first, giving Haera some time to herself, but not after telling her that she had a club meeting. Haera barely nodded as she work on some homeworks. She thought that maybe by doing her homeworks will bring her mood up or something, and will distract her from thinking about Sung Jae. However, it all didn’t work. Even after tons of homeworks she done, her mood was still down and Sung Jae was everywhere on her mind. Just how could she forgot about him when she still could see it all in her head?Haera decided to go back home when she realized she had been in school for hours that the sun was almost setting, and there was only her in the school. Or at least she thought so. She then packed her things and proceeded to walk out from the class. While walking down the corridor, she looked at the school’s garden through the window beside her and it immediately caught her attention. Despite her shrinking mood, she still walked to the school garden and decided to took some picture here and there before going home. Because it was a perfect time. The sun almost setting, and there was nobody around the garden. She took out her camera when she reached the garden. Haera remembered that the school looked beautiful from the rooftop, and she was sure that the sunset will even look more beautiful from the rooftop. With her camera on her hand, she turned around and ready to walk back inside school. But before doing so, from afar, Haera saw a boy was coming to her direction. But she shrugged it away and proceeded to walk. Haera stopped her steps when the boy that was coming to her direction was already infront of her and talked to her.“Kwon Haera. I want to tell you something.” The boy infront of Haera said.Haera looked up and she was sure she didn’t know who was the boy. He was a head taller than Haera, and brown hair. After looking at him for a while, Haera recognize him. She saw him once surrounded by girls when he first entered the school on the second year. Yes, he was a transfer student. And No, Haera didn’t get it why the female students were surrounding him that time.“Do I know you?” Haera asked nonchalantly. Her voice was crystal clear that she didn’t want to have any conversation with anyone. But Haera knew enough that it is no good to just ignore someone who is talking to you.The boy instantly felt uncomfortable by the tone of Haera’s voice. “Uhm.. No, you don’t know me. But, by the way my name is Ahn Jaehyun.” The boy said giving out his hand.Haera only looked at it and then she walked past him, going to the school’s gate. All of a sudden she didn’t feel like going to the rooftop anymore. Not after knowing that there was an unknown boy following her.“Kwon Haera, wait!” Jaehyun said and ran to catch up with her.Haera stopped suddenly when Jaehyun managed to catch up with her.“Is the thing that you want to tell has something to do with my study or the school?” Haera asked with a monotone voice and without looking at him.Jaehyun stopped abruptly and was surprised by her sudden question. He shook his head, “No, it isn’t. What about it?”“Then you have nothing to tell me.” Haera answered with her blank face and continued her walk, fastly.“Wha- Wait!” Jaehyun shouted again but Haera didn’t care about it. He then started running to catch up with her. Jaehyun realized that this was no use. Haera wouldn’t stop walking until she reach the bus stop. And the next bus will arrive in a few minutes. Jaehyun stopped from running and took some deep breath. This is it.“KWON HAERA! I LIKE YOU!” Jaehyun shouted. And he was sure that Haera heard it because, soon she slowed down her steps and then she came to a stop. She stopped when she reached the school’s gate. Not because she saw anything, but because what that boy had said. What Jaehyun had shouted. Jaehyun confessed to her. The said boy then catch up with Haera and stood infront of her, and looked at her. But Haera was too shocked to even look at him. Since the last two years, this was the first time a boy confessed to her straight-forwardly. It’s not that she never got a confession or something. Heck, with that pretty face and smart brain of hers, she almost got it every day. But whenever there was a boy trying to talk with her, she always asked the same question first. “Does this have anything to do with my study or school?”. And if it isn’t, she’ll leave right away. Also, Minhee always stick by her side like 24/7. So, she also helped Haera got away from those boys. But now, since there was no Minhee, and this one boy is a stubborn one, she didn’t know what to do. So she just stood there in complete shock. Maybe, it’s because she finally heard what she had been trying to ignore all this time. She knew very well that those boys must be trying to confess to her, that’s why Haera rejected it right away just by asking her ‘Ultimate Question’. She didn’t like the sound of it. She felt strange. Whether it’s because she rarely heard it or because she didn’t want to hear it that time. Her mood was already down that time, and getting a sudden-confession was not helping at all. She really didn’t know what was her feeling. It was unexplainable, but not in a good way. It felt very strange that she just wanted it to be vanished and no longer existed on her. She somehow felt annoyed, angry, defeated. The boy had made her heard what she had been trying to ignore for the last two years. It wasn’t really a big deal, but those words sounded funny, strange, or whatever it is to her ears. However, she didn’t know why in the world she felt that way. She had been getting some advice by Minhee that she should learn how to let go and started a new one with someone new too. Truthfully, Haera also thought so. She also thought that she should start to learn how to let go. But she couldn’t do it. She just couldn’t. How much she wished someone would just hit her in the head with something hard so that she’ll just have an amnesia and forgot about everything.“I like you.” Jaehyun said one more time. But Haera remained the same. Silent. Jaehyun was already standing infront of Haera.Realizing that Haera wouldn’t say a word, Jaehyun continued. “I like you. I know this sounds crazy, because we don’t’ know each other very well, but I like you.”“I’m going home.” Haera muttered and tried to walk past Jaehyun but he swiftly grabbed her wrist.“Can you please say something about it?” Jaehyun said with a demanding voice.Haera yanked her hand back, “Say what? You like me, so what?” Her question with that cold voice of hers was enough to made Jaehyun silent. Haera scoffed and left him.“You’re still not over Sung Jae, aren’t you?” Jaehyun said all of a sudden. And once again, Haera stopped her steps.Jaehyun scoffed when he knew he was right, “Seriously. Kwon Haera, it had been two years already. You should forget about him. You know you can’t love someone who didn’t exist in this world anymore.”Haera turned around and walked fastly to where Jaehyun was. She looked at him with an unreadable stare. She only stared at him blankly.“What?” Jaehyun asked, “That’s the truth right? You know, you throw away your chance to live happily again with every boy you ignored. We’re here. We’re real. We existed. Why would you spend every day crying over a boy that will never come back when you can laugh happily every day with the boy that existed?” Haera gripped her backpack strap, very hard, to the point where her knuckles turned white. But her face remained the same. Blank as ever.“You have to take the truth Haera. He’s gone. He’s no longer existed. He’s dea-“ Haera slapped him hard on his face before he could finish his words. She couldn’t take it anymore. He’s talking too much.“Don’t you dare talk like that. You know nothing about me.” Haera said before she turned on her heels and left him.Jaehyun scoffed while rubbing his reddened cheek. “You can’t live a life like this forever, Kwon Haera. And you know that.” Jaehyun said loud enough for Haera to hear when she was getting a bit far. Haera stopped walking and a tear that she had been holding managed to escape from her eye and rolled down her cheek. Jaehyun saying things about Sungjae had already hurt her, and now that. Haera wasn’t stupid. She knew it that she couldn’t live a life like this forever. She even asked her ownself why is it so hard to learn to let go. She believed that it’ll all get better in time, but it almost freaking two years already. How much she wished everyone knew and felt how were her feelings. Being reminded about that with that situation was only giving more and more pressure to Haera. She wiped it away and looked up to prevent another tears falling down. Haera then turned around and glared at Jaehyun as cold as ever.“You have nothing to do with my life. So you have no right to say anything about it.” Haera continued to walk to the bus stop while covering her ears, not wanting to hear anything that Jaehyun was trying to say. And as if on cue, the bus showed up and Haera fastly boarded to the bus and took a seat at the very back near the window. Haera was lucky that Jaehyun didn’t follow her to board on the bus. She stared at the bubbletea shop across the street through the window and found a pair of eyes were staring at her. The owner of the eyes was standing casually near the post lamp infront of the shop with his hands on his pocket. The uniform was evident that the person was from the same school with her. Haera was bit surprised to found out that someone had been staring at her. Someone from her school. And she couldn’t tell what was that person thinking because the person had an unreadable expression. To make it worst, what if that person saw it all? Haera would definitely be stressed out if that person saw it all. Saw what happened back there with Jaehyun. Saw her cried.Just perfect. So perfect. After having that incident, now somebody had to witness it. ~“Where are you going?” Sehun asked as Jongin stood up from his seat.Jongin showed his ringing handphone, “Noona’s calling. Have to answer it.” He then left the table and went outside the shop. Sehun, Jongin, and Kyungsoo were at the bubbletea shop right infront of the school’s bus stop. Jongin asked Kyungsoo to teach him about math because his class was going to have a math test next Monday. Kyungsoo, being the smart one, agreed to teach his friend. Sehun also joined in since he was in the same class with Jongin. They were supposed to study at the school’s library, but Sehun insisted them to study at the bubbletea shop. It was actually only another reason so he could get both Kyungsoo and Jongin to buy him bubbletea when they got there.“Yes, I’ll be home soon.” Jongin answered as he leaned on the post lamp.“No, noona. How many times I have to tell you, I don’t have a girlfriend.” Jongin said, getting a little bit annoyed because his older sister kept on making assumption that he must be with his girlfriend now.“I’ve told you already. I’m studying with Sehun and Kyungsoo.” Jongin didn’t hear what his sister saying anymore because he was focused on a girl that looked extremely familiar with her usual blank face. Isn’t that Haera?Jongin then saw a boy walking behind her and stood infront of her, blocking Jongin from looking at Haera. He then saw Haera walking past the boy, but he swiftly grabbed Haera’s wrist. What is he doing?“Hello? Jongin are you there?” A voice from Jongin’s handphone asked. He then remembered that he was still on the phone with his sister.“Noona, I’ll call you when I’m going home, okay? Bye.” Jongin hung up first. He put his handphone back at his pockets and continue to look at where Haera was. Jongin saw Haera yanking her hand back and left. But then Haera stopped again and that was enough to spark up the curiosity inside Jongin. What are they talking about? And Jongin swear if curiosity could kill, he’d probably be dead right now. Because he just saw Haera slapped the boy on his face, real hard. He never saw this sight before. So he was really dying to know what happened overthere. Jongin was lucky when there was no cars passing by the street and he could hear a bit what Jaehyun was saying when Haera was walking away from him. He could hear perfectly “You can’t live a life like this forever, Kwon Haera. And you know that.” What? Who is he? Why does he talk like he knows everything? And for the first time, Jongin saw Haera cried. He could see it clearly, the tear rolling down her cheek. Kwon Haera cried. He also witnessed at how she wiped her tear away and looked up to prevent any tears from falling again. Because of Haera was already at the gate, and it was near the bus stop, plus once again there were no cars passing by, Jongin could hear Haera’s answer to Jaehyun clearly: “You have nothing to do with my life. So you have no right to say anything about it.”The sound of the bus stopping managed to make Jongin startled. He was too busy thinking about what could possibly Haera was talking about with that boy. And what sparks up his curiosity more was, he never saw that boy with Haera before. He looked at Haera who was walking towards the bus while covering her ears. He heard the boy shouting, but he couldn’t make out what was he shouting because he was too busy looking at Haera. He was amazed to see Haera’s expression. She looked so fragile. She looked like she could just explode in any time soon. He kept on staring at Haera through the window of the bus until she reached at the very back seat and sit near the window. And then Jongin’s gaze met with Haera. He was sure that she was surprised to see him staring at her. But he didn’t care. He kept on looking at her until she looked away first, and the bus left. Jongin kept looking at the bus until he could’nt see it anymore. Jongin was still dead curious as to what had made Haera looked like that. What had made Haera cry. He then saw the boy before walked out from school. He was rubbing his cheek. Their eyes met each other for a split second but then the boy looked away first, rubbing on his cheek. Should I ask him? Jongin thought to himself. Before he could think again, his curiosity already ate him. Without even realizing, his legs already made it’s way towards the boy. updated~!! sorry for my bad grammar. i really appreciate it if you leave a comment, because i really want to hear what do you think about this story. and thank you for the amazing subscriber!<3 /throw hearts/ ENJOY AND THANK YOU FOR READING!<3 ^_^
