Taekwoon doesn’t see Wonshik for several days.To his own surprise the days pass even slower even though Wonshik has never been someone he’d call a friend or something. His absence leaves him in boredom, pointless walks through the hospital and painful daydreams of Hakyeon. How long haven’t they seen each other? It’s been nearly three weeks now and everything aches. Sometimes he sort of wishes he would have kept the clothes Hakyeon gave him the first time they met… Just because. The only thing he possesses that reminds him of the human boy is the tiny letter Hakyeon gave him after he got kicked out of their house. But it’s nothing you can bury your nose in and smell or touch. It’s just a piece of paper.Taekwoon sighs. He’s so pathetic. He tries to convince himself that Hakyeon would be disgusted if he knew that a stinking zombie couldn’t stop thinking about him, but he stops halfway because he isn’t supposed to think about Hakyeon. I should get a Job, he thinks. Maybe that will help him forget the human boy. He’s just turning to the next corridor, silently hoping that Wonshik will appear out of nowhere and distract him from his miserable thoughts when he suddenly hears doctor Jaehwa’s voice.“I’m sorry Sir, but I… I can’t. It’s impossible.”Taekwoon glances around, surprised that he’s standing in front of the doctor’s office.“It has to happen as quickly as possible”, a masculine voice replies. “The process is already going on too slowly, and the newly infected are slowing it down even more.”“I need assistants. It won’t be possible otherwise”, doctor Jaehwa says. She sounds exhausted. “And… that other thing you’ve been asking me about. I cannot do it”, she adds. “You have to do what they tell you”, the man hisses.“I won’t do it”, doctor Jaehwa replies. There’s a long pause before the door is suddenly pushed open. Taekwoon is surprised when he sees the grumpy doctor, who had previously taken care of the inhabitants of the hospital, stepping out.“What are you doing here?”, he asks Taekwoon with a cold expression.“I… uhm”, Taekwoon starts but doctor Jaehwa interrupts him.“He has an appointment for a check-up”, she says with a weak smile.“Didn’t I tell you to delay your surgery while I am here?”, the grumpy doctor snarls.“I’m sorry, Sir”, doctor Jaehwa gives him an apologetic look. “I must have forgotten.”The grumpy man furrows his brows before replying: “This project is not a joke, Miss Jaehwa. I’d like you to treat it as something serious.” After shooting another cold stare at Taekwoon, he turns around and storms away.Doctor Jaehwa’s shoulders visibly relax when he’s out of sight.“You didn’t hear anything, did you?”, she asks with a hopeful expression.
