The Drunken Confession (1/1)

Flashback: Fifteen minutes passed by… Yesung was still not there… Thirty minutes passed. He still did not arrive. An hour passed by. Still no sign of him. “He invited me here but he’s the one who is making me wait for too long. Can’t he just cancel it if he can’t come? At least that way, I will know if I was just wasting my time,” Yuri muttered angrily to herself. She paced back and forth in front of the dancing fountain situated beside the theater hall (Opera House) at the Seoul Arts Center.  Honestly, when Yesung called her last night to invite her, she was really excited about it. Maybe, he was gonna make it up to her. This time, there would be no more Krystal. It’s just the two of them and she could not help but smile at those thoughts. But seems like these thoughts would not become a reality. Yuri’s phone rang and there was a voice message of Yesung. “Mianhe, Yuri-ah.There’s an emergency. Krystal is sick. Her sister called me. There’s no one to take care of her now since her older sister Sica is abroad. There will still be next time, right?” Yuri annoyingly shoved her phone to her pocket. It’s always Krystal… Krystal… Sometimes she really hated it when Yesung became so kind and caring.----------------------- “Krystal, what is this?” Yesung asked as he saw Krystal chatting cheerfully on the phone when he arrived. “Sica said you cannot get up from the bed. But what is this? You’re not sick?! You just lied to your sister, aren’t you?” A mixture of disappointment and anger could be found in his voice. “Oppa…” Krystal tried to explain apologetically but she was cut off by Yesung. “Do you know how much you wasted my time?!” Yesung snarled at her making her tear up. “You are going to meet Yuri-unnie, aren’t you?” Krystal said as she wiped the tears from her eyes with the back of her hand. “Do you like her?” she asked in between the sniffs. Yesung remained silent so Krystal continued. “Oppa, do you know that I already liked you the first time Sica-unnie introduced me to you. You were so kind and nice to me and when you smile, my heart starts to jolt everytime you do that.” This was the first time that someone confessed to him. Unfortunately he did not reciprocate her feelings. “Sorry, Krystal but to me you are just a younger sister,” Yesung said. “I know. Yuri-unnie is the one you love. I can see it in your eyes everytime you talk to her. And…” Krystal pused for a while before continuing on. “I think she likes you too. Sorry for wasting your time. Go get her.” She said as she mustered a smile. “Fighting!” She put her fist up to cheer for Yesung despite the tears slowly trickling down her face. She tried hard to fight it but she just couldn’t. “Krystal, I’m really sorry,” Yesung took a step forward to console her but she stepped back and put her palm forward. “No, just go. I’ll be fine.” She lowered her head to hide her tears.  “You’re still young. I hope you find your happiness soon,” he told Krystal before he left. “I hope so…” she muttered as she watched his retreating figure.------------------------ Yesung rushed to the Seoul Arts Center, hoping that he would still catch Yuri there. However, when he arrived, Yuri was already gone. Still panting, he barged inside the Opera Hall and saw Sooyoung applying final touches on the mural. “Sooyoung-shi, do you know where Yuri go?” he asked. “She told me she is going to Hongdae with her other friends.” Sooyoung answered. “Can you accompany me there?”  “Sure.” Sooyoung put down her materials and took off her working apron. ----------------------- Yesung and Sooyoung pushed themselves through the crowd who are slowly going rowdy on the dance floor. Amidst the flickering lights in the club, there he spotted Yuri standing near the bar seemingly waiting for her next shot of cocktail or alcohol. She was wearing a black skimpy outfit that s drew attention to her shapely curves and long slender legs. From Yesung’s judgment, the alcohol finally was slowly catching up on her. No wonder, guys were taking advantage of her drunk self. Perhaps she was getting dizzy, her gait was becoming unstable. A guy immediately approached her to break the fall, acting like a complete gentleman but behind that façade, he was actually like the other guys who only have pervert thoughts in mind. The guy slid his hand on her waist down to her thigh while his other hand swiftly put some powder on her drink. “Here is your drink,” the guy said. As Yuri was about to reach for it, somebody behind her suddenly grabbed her arm. “Don’t drink it,” he warned. “I saw him put something in it.” Yuri turned around only to see the person she did not want to see at the moment, the main reason why she was there drowning herself in alcohol hoping that it would wash her pain away. “Yesung…” she muttered under her breath when she saw him. “Let go of me, leave me alone!” Yuri said sternly as she tried to free herself from Yesung’s grip but she could not win against his manly strength. “He is taking advantage of you,” Yesung hissed.  “YAH! Who are you to accuse me like that, huh?” the guy charged forward and held Yesung by his collar. Sooyoung, who was just watching from the back, started to walk forward when she sensed the increasing tension.  “And who also are you to touch Yuri like that?” Yesung retorted looking at the guy’s hands around Yuri. That was also the time when Yuri realized that the stranger’s hand was around her. She looked down and saw a sachet containing a powdery substance sticking out of the guy’s pocket. She tried to push the guy’s hand away from her and moved to Yesung’s side but the guy held tighter onto her. “Sorry, but you are now mine, baby…” the guy whispered to her ear. She could feel his breath lingering down her neck.  Without wasting another second, Yesung punched the guy and at the same time pulled Yuri with all his strength towards him. Yuri, Yesung, and Sooyoung settled to run away from the scene when three more guys came to the rescue of the pervert one. One by one, they pounced on Yesung. The party mood in the club changed into chaos in an instant. Just like an action movie playing before their eyes, Yesung tried his best to counterattack the kicks and punches thrown on him. After Sooyoung ensured that Yuri was safe from the fight scene, she pulled from her bag her pepper spray. She rushed to help Yesung by spraying the remaining contents of the pepper spray on the “three goons”.  Just when they thought they have knocked out their foes, the pervert guy had sprung up again and attacked Yesung. Yuri, with her remaining strength, picked an empty bottle of soju and smashed it on the head of the pervert guy. After that, Yuri had a blackout and fell on Yesung’s arms.End of Flashback------------------- Yesung mouthed his thanks and apology to Sooyoung when they finally reached the apartment. “It’s okay, never mind it,” Sooyoung said before leaving… After a short while, Seohyun arrived. She arrived at the apartment only to find that the door was already unlocked. She peeked inside and saw Yesung putting a heavily drunk Yuri down on the couch. “Oppa, what happened?” Seohyun asked. “Did you get into a fight?” Seohyun noticed the bruise on Yesung’s right cheekbone. “It’s a long story but seriously she had to stop clubbing especially when she could not control herself.” Yesung and Seohyun looked at Yuri who was half-consciously grunting on the couch. “Wait here oppa, I just buy something for your bruise.” Seohyun went out again leaving Yuri and Yesung alone. “Take care,” Yesung called back at Seohyun. “Stupid Sungie! Why don’t you realize it?!” Yuri cried suddenly which startled Yesung. Yesung sat at the end of the couch. “Yuri, just rest,” he said. But instead of going to sleep, Yuri sat up and inched toward Yesung. She wrapped her arms around him and rested her chin on his shoulder. Yesung was taken aback by her sudden action. “Saranghae,” she softly whispered to his ear as the tears streamed down her face. “You always care about Krystal! It’s always Krystal, Krystal!” Yuri said as she hit him on his chest. “Do you like her?” Yuri eased back to ask him face to face. There was a pained expression in her eyes. “How about me? I want you to see me as a girl… Not the gangster Yul you’ve always known.” Tears continued to fall from her eyes as she buried her head to his chest. Muffled sounds of crying could be heard. “Yul, I also love you… I’ve always loved you just the way you are…” Yesung said as he patted the back of her head and stroked her hair. “Yul, can you still hear me?” he asked. There was no response. Yuri had fallen asleep. Yesung carried Yuri to her room. He had no difficulty finding Yuri’s room for there was a sign saying “Yul’s room” hanging on the door. She placed her gently to the bed. He was about to leave when he noticed a small notebook on her bedside table. He knew it was not good to pry on other people’s personal life but something urged him to take a look at it. He opened it and a picture fell from it. It was a picture of them in their middle school days and on the back, there was a note written on it. Yul and Sungie!!! Yulsung?!!  <3 <3 <3 keke… Yesung smiled and chuckled at the sight of the picture. “You’re such a shipper,” he said. On the page where he found the picture, what was written was this: You said that you like feminine girls… You also said that no guy will like a person like me, a girl who acts like a boy. If I change, will you look at me in the same way as I look at you? He turned to other pages and skim at Yuri’s entries... You leave without saying anything!!! How dare you do that?!!! You said we will always be together, right? You are a liar! I hate you! and this was her latest entry… I tried seeing other guys but they were all jerks. No one can really match up to you… and I hate it. Yesung, why are you like this?!! Is there a space in your heart especially for me? I wanna know but I am afraid to ask… Should I wait for you to say it?? There are times when I feel that there is some kind of connection between us but there are also times when I feel like you’re ignoring me. Who am I really to you? I am confused. I am tired of guessing, you know. Please don’t keep me hanging on… “Mianhe, Yuri… You don’t have to wait any longer.” Yesung whispered as he brushed his hand against her hair.  End of Chapter 28 A/N: Sorry for the very late update...
