Novelists know the difference between reality and fantasy, even if we muddle through both. But something about the idea is heartwarming, I suppose. Its just not for me.You could call me a realist, if you want, but thats not what I am. Im neither a pessimist nor an optimist, either. I just am, in the very sense of the word. I exist, as I always have existed. And that, more than anything, is why Im doing this.I know there are authors like J.K. Rowling who make it big and go from dirt poor to filthy rich almost overnight. I know there are authors who are not famous until they are dead. I know there are authors who are special to some people but unknown to most. And which one do I want to be?Any of them.Yeah, it sounds weird. Most people want the fame and fortune, or at least the fame-after-death. Me, I want to be special to someone. I want to change someone for the better. I want to be known for existing as I am. Is that too much to ask? I dont think so. I think its a simple end result.Its the getting there that will be difficult.
