The reason why the company chose this name because, Pastel means a peaceful and soft color that can make you feel calm and fresh. Some of the candidates had participated in South Korean entertainment industry through their participation in television commercials, television drama or music video appearances.The first member of the group that joined Jellyfish Entertainments training system was Erin in 2012, through an audition. Before she became a Jellyfish Entertainments trainee, she was a trainee in Cube Entertainment. But, she only focused on modelling and acting. Moreover, she debuted as an actress before debut as an idol. In the same year, Ichigo, Vanilla and Moonzee were cast into Jellyfishs training system. Ichigo and Moonzee(former member) got into the company through an audition too while Vanilla, she was transferred through an exchange program between SM Entertainment and Jellyfish Entertainment. Miyoung and Y(former member) were the next members joined to become Jellyfish trainees in 2013. The seventh and final member of the group to be added was Juliette, who had become a trainee in SM Entertainment since 2008 then changed to Jellyfish Entertainment due to a few problems. She was supposed to debut in F(X) but the company thought that she was undertrained as she was only trained about 4 months before F(X) debuted, so they chose Krystal instead of her. She was also supposed to debut in Red Velvet since she had a training time with Irene and Wendy. But then, they chose Seulgi as they already introduced her to the public. Juliette ended up with leaving the company and joined Jellyfish Entertainment.2015: Debut: Peace of Pastelz, Y and Moonzee leaving PASTELZOn April 29, 2015, Jellyfish Entertainment announced Pastelzs debut through a music video, "Hi~(안녕)".On May 7, 2015, they made their debut stage on M! Countdown. Within one day, they already ranked in seventh place. After one week debut, Y officially leaving the group because she want to focus on her studies.On May 17, Y and Moonzee decided to leave the group as Y wanted to continue her studies while Moonzee left for unexplained issues. So, any comebacks and variety shows were postponed for a while.2016: 2nd Single Album: PASTELZ8 & new members, Comeback: CupidOn April 11, 2016, the group announced that they were currently preparing for a new album after a long silence. Also, two members, Haneul and Yojeong, were added in the group to fulfill the amount as 8 members.PASTELZ released their second single, PASTELZ8, on April 25, 2016 with title track "Cupid".
