But if any one of them could reverse what happened, it would be the middle child, Rose Tyler McCoy. When she was four, her mother, a Korean woman by the name of Go Miyeon, left her husband, a Welsh man named Rhys McCoy, and their Cardiff home, taking her eldest daughter and her infant son, leaving the least loved middle child with her father. Rhys was crushed, and fled his country to travel the world with his child. After 11 years of wandering the globe, Roses father could take the suffering no more and killed himself. Rose traveled on her own for a while, with every day spent writing out her pain in every language she knew. She eventually realized what she wanted to do. She was to become a linguist, a studier of languages, and go to Korea to do it, hopefully finding her mother while she is there.Meanwhile, a sixteen year old boy surrounded by friends, feels an strange and uncurable loneliness, a feeling hes never felt before. Hes popular, funny, loved, but feels empty when left to his thoughts. He keeps looking out for a sign, something, someone, who can help him.
