Betrayal of my Heart
Death is not the answer. ForewordShe’s used to being the person in between, a counsellor, a friend, a listening ear. “The moment I earn my first 5 million, I’m gonna kill myself. I’m gonna jump off a building and I hope to god that I die.” It was one of those nights again. She was his nobody. She didn’t mean enough to have a say, Anna herself knew. “Okay.” she said softly, not approving of his death wish but rather doubted its achievability. He wasn’t gonna get there, at least not anytime soon. “She’s happy, I should be the same.” He paused, choking on bitter tears. “ But... my heart betrays me.” his breath becomes unsteady. She’s heard this before, he’s breaking down. “The heart is always honest, but yeah.. it’s a traitor” Anna felt her own heart constrict, she moved her phone to the ear, the soreness she felt told her that she’s been on for really long. “Can I just. Trade my heart away?” he said it in quick short breaths. Sobs were disrupting his speech patterns. “I like your heart.” it’s kind “I don’t need it.” he told her honestly, hating himself even more. He wept harder, emotions were overwhelming. “Ah.. just.” She didn’t quiet know what to say. Was there a right thing to say to a man crying his eyes out? His shaky breath turned into a quiet laughter, he was laughing at himself. “I’m such a joke,” he told her for the nth time. “No, you’re not. You’re pretty amazing, when you’re not miserable like this.” Anna never had the chance to tell the guy that he was her ideal kind of man. Especially now, it wasn’t appropriate. “My chest hurts...” he announced. She listened, waiting for him to go on because that was all she was to him.
