He was always there.  Around every corner, around every shop, around every bus stop.  I remember seeing his dark eyes looking into mine.  Years would pass between us and his intense stare never faltered.  We would both age considerably, but nothing between us differed.  Timing was never our friend.  We could never get it right.  Push and pull, tug and release, we were never on the same track.  He would run and I would wait.  I would fall and he would retreat. We never had the right timing. But we always had each other.
