He was outside with his mother, playing. She came up behind him and tickled him suddenly, starling him. He didn’t know what was going on. He was scared. He pushed her back in defence. She ended up in the middle of a frozen lake. There was a loud crack. He heard her screaming. There was a splash. More screaming. Then: nothing. He’d killed his mother. He ran away in a random direction, unable to sense his way home. He hid in the snow in an unknown place. He would have frozen to death if the police hadn’t found him. His father never forgave him for that. IIA Colourless RainbowSetting his paintbrush down, Jongin stood up from his seat, moved closer to Kyungsoo, and took hold of both his hands to let him know he was there. After a few moments, Kyungsoo took his hands away and moved them up to Jongin’s face. He was surprised that Jongin didn’t leap away in disgust and fear, as that’s what he’d experienced previously. IIIThe Creativity Of Reality     He wanted to yell after her, to tell her that it wasn’t alright to shut Jongin out just because he was deaf. He wanted to tell her that even if she shunned him because he was blind, she should at least give Jongin a chance. But he didn’t. And that was proof of his cowardliness. He wanted to tell Jongin that it was alright, that there was nothing wrong him and that he was and always would be there for him. But he couldn’t. That was proof of how messed up the world was (and still is). For Kyungsoo, that was enough to disprove the theory of an omnibenevolent god.IVNuminous Revelations  “What? Are you two, like, gay for each other or something?” Krystal’s cruel words sliced through the tense atmosphere like a machete through a marshmallow. She placed the page she’d torn out of Jongin’s notebook back in front of the bemused deaf boy; Kyungsoo heard the rustling of pages as she did so. “Wow, Kyungsoo,” she continued, smirking sinisterly (unbeknownst to the target of her words). “You’re even more of a freak than I thought. Don’t get your hopes up though – there’s no way someone as hot as Jongin would ever even look twice at someone like you… Then again, how would you know if someone was looking at you in the first place?”VA Strange SolaceHe froze, dead in his tracks, as Jongin stepped forward and bent down, taking Kyungsoo’s hand. Kyungsoo drew his breath in sharply when he felt the warm skin of Jongin’s hand brush against the cold of his. Of course, it hadn’t occurred to him that the warm hand belonged to none other than Kim Jongin. No, he merely assumed it belonged to a kind stranger that happened to take notice of his abuse (regardless of how unlikely that seemed). With little to no other options, he allowed the owner of the hand to pull him up to a standing position. Jongin’s arm snaked around Kyungsoo’s waist, pulling him closer, and Kyungsoo sighed softly as he relished in the comfort of the arm body pressing against his. He was so comfortable that he almost forgot about his abusive father. Almost.
