At this point in time only two stories, The Forest of Dragonflies and Wolf-skin, are in progress. These stories will be a part of the same universe, but not necessarily directly connected. The Forest of Dragonflies, in some ways, will be the origin story that sets up the mythology of later stories, like Wolf-skin. The title, "The Forest of Dragonflies", comes from the short story "Love: The Contrast Between Two Forces" by the 17th century Japanese writer Ihara Saikaku (1642-93). During his fifty-one years Saikaku wrote a collection of 40 short stories depicting the homosexual love relations between men, particularly Samurai and Kabuki actors, during the 17th century. In "Love: The Contrast Between Two Forces", Saikaku describes the story of Kuni-toko-tachi, who was taught to love of men by a wagtail bird and then fell in love with Hi-ni-Chimaru. Homosexual love was said to have been looked on favourably by all; "even the myriad of insects preferred the position of boy love" (Saikaku, 1642-93).
