One might think that the nights would be lonely, and they are, but opening my eyes as the sunlight floods my bedroom and realizing time and time again that you are not by my side, that it wasn’t a dream, is the most piercing pain I have ever had to endure.It’s still as strong as that very first day, when I jumped out of bed, frantically searching for you in all the cold rooms, stumbling forwards crying your name, trying to tell myself that you hadn’t left me.That small fleeting moment of peace while waking up, followed by the panic, the realization, and the always present feeling of having something ripped out of my chest, it hurts.
