COLORS // A WRITING CONTEST FOR 2016 Welcome to colors: a writing contest for 2016! This contest is designed to be a "New Years resolution" for writing, and its ultimate goal is to get writers to step out of their comfort zone -- whether that means writing for a group theyve never written for before, setting a word count goal to beat, trying out a whole new genre, or just actually writing something. I also want this contest to create a friendly environment where everyone can encourage one another to write without being afraid and reach their writing goals for the year! During this past year, Ive realized how important both setting goals (not only with writing, but also in real life) and having people to talk to and encourage you while youre trying to reach your goals are to actually getting things done, and I want to share this feeling with AFF! Also, Ive wanted to give back to the AFF community for a long time, but didnt quite know how to do so until now. Let your imagination run wild! You can submit anything to this contest, from angst to romantic comedies to PWP, as long as youre challenging yourself and writing (and following AFFs rules). Lets make 2016 a year when you look back on your writing and feel proud of what youve accomplished!  ForewordR U L E S 1. Subscribe to this contest to get updates.2. Please do not bash this contest, any of the participants, or any of the stories that are submitted to this contest. The point of this contest is to improve your own writing; don’t waste your time and energy bringing down other people’s efforts!4. Do not plagiarize. This should go without saying.5. Link back to this contest in your foreword or description to spread the word.6. The minimum word count is 500. There is no maximum word count.7. Please set a “goal.” This can be anything from a ending word count goal for your fic, writing a certain fandom/pairing that you’ve never written before, trying out a new genre, etc.8. Submit as many entries as you wish! Just know that you can only win in the "Overall" category once. Also, I encourage you to set different goals if you submit multiple entries.9. When submitting the form, please include "colors 2016" as the password.10. Using the prompts isn’t required -- they’re just there for inspiration!11. Any and all kinds of pairings accepted - slash, yaoi, yuri, het, fics with OCs are all fine.12. However, if you win in the "Overall" category, you are still eligible to receive either a Enjoyment or Progress award! OVERALL1st place: 2000 karma points, upvotes to all of your stories, a detailed review of your entry and another story of your choice, a oneshot written for you, a graphic for your entry. 2nd place: 1500 karma points, upvotes to all of your stories, a detailed review of your entry and another story of your choice, a drabble written for you, a graphic for your entry.3rd place: 1000 karma points, upvotes to all of your stories, a detailed review of your entry and another story of your choice, a graphic for your entry. ENJOYMENT(for stories that receive the highest enjoyment scores)3 stories will be chosen and each author will receive 200 karma and a detailed review of their entry. PROGRESS(for authors that have made the most progress and/or for authors that challenged themselves the most with their goal)An undecided number of authors will be chosen and receive 100 karma and a detailed review of their entry each.
